Marge was born in Manhattan on March 11, 1928, to Samuel and Claire Trivers. The family moved to Poughkeepsie, NY, a few years later. After graduating from Poughkeepsie High School she attended Flower Fifth Avenue School of Nursing in New York and then worked for a doctor in Poughkeepsie.
She met Herbert Kallman through friends after a transfer in the insurance industry brought him up the Hudson River from the Bronx, and they married in 1950. Over the years they worked hand in hand to build the Kallman Insurance Agency.
In addition to her role in the business and being a very devoted and involved mom to her three children, Marge volunteered countless hours to local causes close to her heart and in support of those less fortunate. She loved to swim and play golf, doted on her beloved schnauzers, and tirelessly cooked many special meals for family gatherings. Her chocolate chip cookies, creamed spinach and brisket are legendary (mostly to her children and grandchildren).
The Vassar Temple community, her close friends and her sister rounded out her life in Poughkeepsie. After retiring in 1987 she and Herb began a new chapter together in their beloved Fort Myers and Sanibel Island in Florida. As the sun came up, and by flashlight at night, she took up shelling with a vengeance and was hooked for years until she could no longer do the Sanibel Stoop. She also was very proud of her role as a founding member of Temple Bat Yam on Sanibel and her long tenure at HealthPark Medical Center in Fort Myers as a "Cuddler" in the Neonatal Unit. Along with Herb, she cherished their summer escapes to Vermont and other shared travel adventures with friends and family.
Her kids and grandkids lovingly called her Margerina, the email name given to her by her oldest grandson. She enjoyed a full and satisfying life and will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her broad smile and generous nature.
She lost her husband Herb exactly one year ago, and is survived by her sister Nanci Weber, of Wappingers Falls, NY; her daughter, Linda Kallman, and her husband, Steve Bromberg, of Haverstraw, NY, and their children, Joshua Kallman Bromberg and his wife Marie Concepcion Bromberg, and Herb and Marge's great-granddaughter, Tenzin Juliet Bromberg, and Benjamin Kallman Bromberg and his fiancee Molly Alig; her son, Robert Kallman, and his wife, Francine Kallman, of Poughkeepsie, NY, and their children, Gregory Kallman and David Kallman; her son, Thomas Kallman, of Weston, FL, his daughter, Alison Kallman, and his son, Jesse Kallman, and wife, Shannon Boone, and Jesse and Alison's mother, Vivian Kallman, of Weston, FL. A third son, Richard, died in infancy.
Plans have not yet been made for a memorial service. Any donations in Marge's memory can be made to United Hospice of Rockland.
