Marie-Gessie Turnier

Marie-Gessie Turnier was born in St. Michel de L’Attalaye, Haiti on September 19, 1958 to Nive and Denis Kerolle. After graduating from L’Ecole Des Soeurs Du Sacra Coeur she moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1980. Shortly thereafter, Gessie married her sweetheart of two years, the late Dr. Pierre-Louis Turnier. Once married, Gessie obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing and began a career that she loved. A few years later Gessie gave birth to her only child, Taisha, whom she loved and adored. In 1993 Marie-Gessie and her family moved to New City, NY and she began working at Nyack Hospital; then continued her nursing career at Westchester Medical Center. Marie-Gessie passed away on April 29, 2011 after losing her battle with breast cancer. Marie-Gessie is survived by her daughter Taisha, her father Denis Kerolle, and her three brothers Dr. Harold Kerolle, Herve Kerolle, and Emile Casimir. Family will receive friends on Friday from 5-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday 12noon at St. Anthony’s Church, Nanuet, NY. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Taisha Turnier College Fund.
