Mary G. Coates, 89, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2013. She was born on January 4, 1924 in Portchester, NY to Rocco and Grace (Luci) Anastasio. Mary worked for the Clarkstown School District as a cafeteria worker for many years and retired in 2007. She was also active in Congers 1 Senior Citizen Club and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Carol Rocanello; her 2 adoring granddaughters Nicole and Lisa; her 2 sisters Francis Galante and Henrietta Peno; her sister-in-law Vilma Coates and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Robert. They were married for 31 years.
Family will receive friends today, Monday, May 20 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Nyack, NY followed by interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
