Mary F. Stein

Mary F. Stein, (nee Barrett), age 84, long time resident of New City, passed unexpectedly on October 7, 2015. She was born in the Bronx on April 22, 1931 to Patrick and Anne Barrett. On February 20, 1954, she married John Stein. Together they had 5 children. Mary retired as a teacher’s aid from BOCES of Rockland County. She was an active member of the Republican Party, West Nyack Senior Citizen Club One, Red Hats and a lifetime member of West Nyack Swim Club. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed bowling, bridge, golf, and traveling, especially to Florida as a snowbird. Mary was predeceased by her husband John (2001), son Vincent (1990), and her sister Ann Taggart. She is survived by her children Mary Kirsch, John (wife Ann-Mari), Kathryn Finneran (husband James) and Thomas. Mary was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Anytime spent with her family brought her the most joy. Visitation will be held Sunday from 7-9pm and Monday from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, 10am, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Nyack followed by interment at St. Anthony Cemetery, Nanuet. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
