Patrick Egan of Lords Valley, PA, 82 years old, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022. Patrick was a longtime resident of New City. He was born on April 7, 1939 to parents Patrick and Stasia Egan and grew up in Jackson Heights, NY. He served in the US Navy in the late 1950’s. After traveling the world, and an honorable discharge, he married Philomena Whelan and started a family, moving to New City in the late 1960’s. Patrick worked for many years as an Elevator Constructor and a proud member of Local 1 IUEC. Patrick was an original organizer, and dedicated committee member, of the summer picnic for Local 1 members and their families at Krucker’s in 1970, which is a still-standing tradition. The picnic is
renowned among the trade unions in the New York area. Patrick also worked for Amtrak as an electrical
supervisor and ran a successful Electrical Contracting side-business, serving many satisfied customers in
Clarkstown and the surrounding towns for over 20 years. He taught his children electrical work, good
business sense, and professional ethics along the way. He also instilled in his children and others the
value of hard work, honesty, and integrity. Humor was a big part of his personality, and he was always
ready to share a smile and a laugh with everyone he encountered.
Patrick was a parishioner of St Augustine’s Church for many years. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster for
Boy Scout Troop 313. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially going fishing and
hosting summer parties. He thrived in the role of devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

(Christine), Catherine (Arlon Bennett), John (Ronna), Mary (Joe Dempsey), and 14 grandchildren.
