Richard William Edwards, 66, of New City, NY, passed away on April 17, 2016. He was born in New York City to the late Richard William and Dorothy Pettit Edwards and grew up in the Bronx. He was a graduate of Fordham University. After a long career in the business world, he discovered a love of teaching, ending his working career at Albertus Magnus High School. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, sons Richard and Michael, sister Janice Newman (Larry), brothers Gary and Stephen, sister-in-law Karen Gates, brother-in-law Douglas Meyer (Robin), cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by lifelong friends and his “family in all but blood,” the extended Slattery family.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, 10am at St. Augustine’s Church, New City, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 300 International Dr., Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573.
