It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and friend Robert Tortorello of New City, NY. Bobby passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 20, 1960 to Helen and Rocco Tortorello. He graduated from Ramapo High school and was a stand-out baseball player at RCC and SUNY Albany. He married his soulmate, Christina, in 2000.
Bobby worked at Sandy Alexander for over 30 years. He was dedicated and passionate about his job, had invaluable knowledge of the business and was a great mentor to his peers. His colleagues admired his exceptional problem-solving skills and his unwavering commitment to excellence. He set a great example to his colleagues. Through the years he developed wonderful friendships.
Bobby, affectionally called Tort, was an exceptional athlete excelling in baseball and softball. His speed, strength, and love for the game led to a legendary career in and around Rockland County. His achievements were recognized when he was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in 1999 and in October of this year will be inducted into the Ramapo Hall of Fame. Tort was a legend. He built lifelong friendships as a result and loved talking about the “glory days”. He had countless friends who admired and loved him.
But nothing gave Bobby more joy than his family. He was a wonderful provider and nurturer to his wife and boys. He was a true family man and family was the only thing that mattered to him. As a father, Bobby was second to none. He was a constant source of support and encouragement to his beloved sons. He imparted wisdom, kindness, and a strong work ethic to his boys, guiding them through life’s challenges and cheering them on for their achievements. He had a special way of making his sons feel valued and loved, instilling good morals and teaching life lessons. He was so proud of them, and he would talk about them to anyone who would listen. They were his world.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife Christina, his sons Michael and Joseph. He is also survived by his sister Laura (Robert), brother Dean (Lynda), in-laws Mary and Frank, sister-in-law Michele (Mike) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, father, and brother Gary.
Bobby’s departure leaves an unfillable void in the lives of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Christina, who stood by his side through thick and thin, and his sons, Michael, and Joseph, who will carry on his legacy of love, integrity, and strength. He will also be remembered by his extended family, friends, and all those who were touched by him. He leaves behind cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. May he rest in eternal peace, forever watching over his beloved family from above.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and very dear."
