

Salustiano Martinez passed away on December 2, 2012 in Suffern, NY. He was born on December 24, 1913 in Manatí, Puerto Rico and was the 5th son of Hipolito Martinez and Maria Sierra. Sal was married for 60 years to Victoria Martinez, who passed in 1997. He is survived by his brother, Esteban; son Benito Martinez; daughters Carmen Lugo, Ampato Santos, Eugenia Reyes, Rosa Colón, Milagros Martinez, Gloria Tejeda and Sara Vanterpool. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his three sons Angel, Ramon, and Jose Martinez. In 1952 Sal moved his family to Brooklyn, NY and then to the Bronx where they settled. Sal worked all types of entry level jobs to provide for his family, whom he loved greatly. With his children grown, Sal and his wife, Victoria, lived in Puerto Rico and New York City at different times. In 2005 Sal came to live here in Nanuet with his daughter, Rosa Colón, and her family. He greatly appreciated living here in Rockland County. We will remember our Dad, Sal, for the great love he had for all of his children. Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 from 11am-1pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Services will be held at 1pm at the funeral home following the visitation with a private Cremation to follow.
