Sara M. Finucane

Sadie was born on May 10, 1936 in Kilcolgan, County Kerry, Ireland. She was the seventh of eight children of Kathy and Michael Lynch and enjoyed a close relationship with her siblings throughout their lives. (Mai, Maggie, Joe, Stevie, John, Jennie, and Kathleen). Sadie loved working on the farm with her father as a young girl and loved going to school. She was blessed to enjoy good health throughout her life and always enjoyed tending to her garden and learning and teaching her children and grandchildren.

Sadie immigrated to New York City in 1955, where she joined some of her siblings, and got a job as a key punch operator at Con Edison thanks to her brother Joe. A few years later Sadie was followed by her future husband Donal, and they were married in February 1958. They enjoyed many happy years in Bronx NY, where five of their six children were born. In 1972, they moved to New City, NY.

She is survived by her six children (Marian, Cathy, Mairead, Jeannie, Jimmy, and Brian) and her daughter-in-law and son-in-laws (Steve Bator, Leonard Donnelly, Mona Finucane, and Dan Benson).

She is also survived by six grandchildren (Danielle, Rebecca, Andrew and Kelly Bator, Ana and Lea Finucane, Michaela and Penelope Finucane, one great grandchild, Callum Fleischer, and her sister Jennie Murphy. She enjoyed spending time with family, and especially with her grandchildren.

She was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Donal. They were blessed with many happy years of retirement together.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine's Church, 118 S Main St, New City, NY 10956, US, on May 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954, US, on May 29, 2026, from 11:15 am to 11:45 am.

Celebration of Life at River Court on Main Restaurant, 16 S Main Street, New City, NY 10956 on May 29, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
