

Born in New York City on November 24, 1920, Elizabeth was the daughter of Frank and Jane O’Connor Schaub. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on July 16,1939 and received the name Sister Miriam Joseph. She professed her first vows in 1941 and final vows in 1946. Sister Miriam Joseph received a BA in Latin from Manhattan College,1951; an MA in Latin from St. John University,1954; an MA in Religious Studies, Providence College, RI, 1968; and an MS in Pastoral Counseling, Iona College,1972. Sister Miriam Joseph ministries include St. Paul School, Norwich, NY (1941-1942); St. Mary School, Fulton, NY (1942-1944); Sacred Heart School, Suffern, NY (1944-1946); Cardinal McCloskey Home & School (1946-1948); St. Edmund School, Brooklyn, NY (1948-1951); St. Brendan School, Bronx, NY (1951-1952); Thorpe Secretarial School, NYC (1952-1953); St. Edmund HS, Brooklyn, NY (1953-1955); Aquinas HS (1955-1966); Holy Trinity HS (1966-1969); Albertus Magnus
HS, Bardonia, NY (1970-1995). Sister Miriam Joseph was Director of Postulants, Dominican Convent
from 1969-1970. From 1995 until 2001 she served as Director of Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel Campaign.
Upon completion of the Chapel in Dominican Convent, Sister Miriam served as Sacristan from 2001- 2013. Sister Miriam Joseph is predeceased by her parents Frank and Jane O’Connor Schaub and her brother Frank. She is survived by beloved cousins, Dominican Sisters, Associates and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Sparkill, NY on Thursday March 2, 2023 at 11:00AM a.m. Visitation is Thursday March 2, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30am at Dominican Convent, 175 Route 340, Sparkill, NY. Mass will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Arrangements are by Higgins Funeral Home.
