

Susanne Alice Miskovsky, 83, of New City, New York, died Wednesday, January 3, 2024.She was born in Long Island City in 1940 to Charles DeCario and Alice Garry and attended P.S.150 Elementary School, Horace Greeley Middle School, and William Cullen Bryant High School,class of 1957. She worked for a fabric company in Manhattan and spent her free-time travelling, reading, and seeing shows in the city. She met Louis, the love of her life, at a mutual friend’s wedding and they married in 1962, settling in Jackson Heights. Wanting more room for their 3 children, they moved to New City in 1976, where she remained until her death.Sue was very religious, attending mass as often as she was able, usually every day. Her daily prayer list was long, consisting of friends and family in sickness or need, and her devotion to them was unprecedented. In the early 1980’s, she became an administrative assistant at the Clarkstown North High School in New City until her retirement in 2006. She spent her retirement years travelling to museums and shows with her senior group, volunteering at the local library and thrift shop, and she spent many vacations with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Miskovsky, and is survived by her sister Linda DeCario, brother Richard DeCario and his wife Annette, daughter Laura Scala and her husband Joseph, daughter Susanne Curry and her husband Christopher, son Charles Miskovsky and his wife Christina, grandchildren Joseph, Matthew, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Sean, Patrick, Christopher, Stephen, & Shannon, niece Diana Azznara and her husband Joseph, nephew Daniel DeCario and his wife Lindsay, and many cousins.
A wake will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City,NY from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. A Catholic funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in New City, NY on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10:00am. Burial will follow the service at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet,NY.
