Theresa Blazquez

Theresa (Josie) Blazquez of Blauvelt, NY, died on June 29th, 2017 with her family at her side after a very brief illness. She was born May 17, 1929 in New York City, born to the late Henry and Mary Gregory. She moved to Blauvelt, NY with her husband and four children in 1967.

Her passion and enthusiasm was quilting. She spent many days in her sewing room creating masterpiece quilts. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandma.

She was married almost 70 years to the love of her life, Louis Blazquez, Jr. Together they travelled to and from Arizona, and went on many cruises during the years. Theresa adored and cherished her family and is survived by her children, Theresa Walsh (Richard), Louis Blazquez III, and Diane Maxwell. She is predeceased by her 3 children, Michael, Deborah Jean, and baby boy. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren (Lisa, Richard, Aileen, Jamie, James, Gregory, and Trisha) and 10 great grandchildren (Kaitlyn, Vito, Matthew, Chloe, Richard, James, Danica, Abigail, Violet, and Hunter) and loving sister-in-laws, cousins, and friends.

As matriarch of the family, her smile, laugh, warmth, and strength will be greatly missed as well as her cooking and baking. Her true love was her family. Her absence leaves a void in the lives of those who love her that cannot be measured. She will be remembered as the center of her family’s life. We have lost a great heart today.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 2nd, from 3 - 7 at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main St. New City, NY 10956. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony's Shrine on Monday, July 3, at 10am, interment to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery.
