We say goodbye, with a smile through our tears, to Tommy Termine, who peacefully passed away on January 18, 2024. Tommy, a man who could outwit a stand-up comedian, leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and the art of telling a story so tall it needed its own zip code.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Sue Termine, his two sons Mike and Dennis, and his two daughters Tara Dirocco and Jacqueline Salvo. His biggest accomplishment is his loving family that include sons-in-law Joe DiRocco and Dave Salvo, daughter-in-law Stacey Termine, ten loving grandchildren, JoJo DiRocco, Kiana Termine, Frankie DiRocco, Mickey Termine, Tyler Termine, Nikki DiRocco, Gianna Salvo, Nick Salvo, Mackenzie Salvo, and Arianna Fijor. He is also survived by his two brothers Vito Termine (Paula) and Jerry Termini (Donna), along with many other nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Born on November 4, 1947 to Madeline Maggazino and Vito Termine, Tommy was a Bronx native through and through. He learned the ropes of life alongside his two brothers Vito and Jerry. Tommy moved to Rockland County while in high school. Upon graduating high school Tommy started a loving family as well as a successful carpet business known as T & T Carpet.
Tommy and Sue’s love story was one for the books. Sue, the love of his life, was his partner in crime for 54 years, and together they navigated the ups and downs of life with grace and a good dose of humor.
Tommy was a man of many talents and interests, including his love for music. He was a father who could turn a regular Tuesday night dinner into an event that left everyone in stitches. His life lessons often came wrapped in a joke, making the medicine of wisdom much easier to swallow.
Holidays with Tommy were legendary - his turkey was always "just a little dry," according to him, but nobody else seemed to notice as they were too busy laughing at his latest gag. Let's not forget the infamous Termine family reunions, where Tommy reigned as the unofficial king of the barbecue grill, armed with his trusty spatula and an endless supply of jokes.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, let's remember him not with sadness but with the joy he brought into our lives. In lieu of flowers, Tommy would probably suggest doing something a bit more fun, like enjoying a good meal with loved ones, or better yet, playing a harmless prank on a friend, just for old times' sake.
Let's come together to honor the man who taught us the value of laughter, the strength in unity, and the importance of a well-timed punchline.
The family will receive guest on Wednesday, Jan. 24th from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi, West Nyack NY on Thursday, Jan. 25th at 11am.
