

Warren Alvin Pedersen who for over 50 years lived on Buena Vista Road, in New City, passed away on August 30th. Born in Brooklyn, New York on September 12, 1928 to Edwin Pedersen and Betty (Skogland) Pedersen, He moved to New City at age 8. He attended Little Red School House, Spring Valley High School, and Waldorf College in Forest City Iowa, where he lettered in football and baseball. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1953 at Fort Monmouth New Jersey where he operated radar jamming equipment. His “bunk mate” was Yankee Pitcher Whitey Ford. He started a green house business with his older brother Rod. He attended New City Park Evangelical Free Church where he met his future wife Janice Pedersen. They married on August 27th 1955 at the church. He joined the Electrical Union Local 363 at the age of 38 and retired from at the age of 62. He worked on many Rockland County buildings including the County Seat, Blue Hill and as well as the Javits Center, and Guggenheim Museum. No project was too big; he renovated rooms, converted patios to bedrooms, decks and a tractor house for his vintage 1953 Farmall tractor . He loved to travel in the family camper exploring the Northeast. He loved sailing his O’Day sailboat where for years he enjoyed the Hudson River. He was always helping friends and family with their electrical problems. He was a dedicated Church worker who did many projects for Park Church. He also joined the Church Choir in his later years. He headed up the Clarkstown Reformed Church Restoration where he also attended for several years.. Park Church honored him recently with a plaque for his involvement in Boys Brigade.
He is survived by three sons. Kent and wife Sue, Greg and wife Maria and Steve and wife Susie Pedersen. Seven Grandchildren Kate, Emily, Gregory, Sarah and Jessie, Steven, Merrie, and Tore, as well as many Nieces and Nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Janice in 1999 and brother Rodney in 2013.
Visiting will be at Higgins Funeral Home, New City Thursday September 3,2015.2-4PM and 7-9 PM Funeral service will be held 10AM Friday September 4,2015 at Park Evangelical Church, with burial following at Martinus Hogenkamp Cemetery.
