

She is survived by her two daughters, Celenia Perez and Coryna Devereaux, sons-in-law, Joshua Deklevar and Michael Devereaux, and three grandchildren, Madison, Joshua Jr., and Michael Jr.
Zulma was a native New Yorker, born in the Bronx to Juan Eugenio and Luz Celenia Carmona on February 22, 1958. She was the third eldest of eight siblings: Manny, Myrna, Millie, Maritza, Mildred, Maribel, and Marisol. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mercy College, Zulma began her thirty-five-year career in the insurance industry. At the age of 50 she returned to Mercy College to acquire her master’s degree in organizational leadership.
Zulma’s life was marked by her generosity of spirit, commitment to her Catholic faith, and love of family. She deeply cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, who were an endless source of pride.
A wake for Zulma will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956. A mass will occur Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Anthony's Church, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954. A burial will occur Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM at St. Raymond's New Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Ave, New York, NY 10465.
