From the beginning, we knew that Jean was special. When Jean was diagnosed as developmentally delayed, our parents made special efforts to help Jean develop and attain her potential. As she grew up and went to school, Jean learned to take care of herself. She lived in group homes since the mid-1970s and worked at various day activities. Jean was friendly, liked to play games, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and loved to dance. Jean also attended summer camp and took some trips, including one to Disney World. Jean was fascinated by Elvis and identified every limousine as Elvis’s. Jean was working as she approached the age of 65 and may have continued except that Covid upended her beloved schedule. Jean retired at the end of 2022 and spent her time with her friends at her group home.
