Scott's office was one floor away from ours.  Over the years it became an amusing contest of how quickly Scott could get to us after our request for computer help. He got it down to 2 minutes.  I am grateful for the memories of our friendship.  Rest in peace dear friend.

Scotts memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Scott was a very talented software developer, a dedicated employee who had a fantastic work ethic. He was creative beyond his years. His talent was listening to his customers and building simple business applications that was used by many. He was great at processing information on the fly, a true work talent. I will miss you Scott. Sincerely, Sandy Edwards.

Scott and I met at my uncles wedding.  As teenagers we hit it off right away. Scott was the funniest person I knew. He would send me mixed tapes in the mail. We lost touch in adulthood. He found me on Facebook and I got to experience his humor again. I will miss the phone calls and hearing about the family up there. It is heartbreaking the silence. I hope the family can find strength in each other during this difficult time. I wish I could be at his celebration of life.  Scott will be remembered for his kindness and love for others.

I am sorry that I am unable to attend Scott’s celebration of life and memorial service. Scott was such an incredible person. He always responded to my IT needs promptly, efficiently and with great expertise  but the thing I remember him most for was his huge smile, gentle manner, and dry wit. We spend much time discussing the joys and struggles of raising children in a tough world. He clearly adored his children. Scott was a sweet man and will be deeply missed by all that are still at the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office and many of us that are now retired.

Dear Tim, Jaiden & Glori.  I worked with Scott for years and he was my friend.  He was Scotty or SNelson to me.   Scott shared many stories about you three kids.  You were the light in his life even during his difficult struggles with depression.  He loved to tell me fun stories about all three of you.    He was so proud of you!  Scott was an amazing computer programmer and his genius made lives so much better at the County Attorneys Office.  Scotty's struggles were so real.  There were many times he just needed to cry and talk about how awful he felt.  Then the talk would turn to you kids and he would have smiles between his tears.  
I wish you a little less pain as time goes on.  Then I hope you begin to hold on to some happy memories of your most wonderful dad!

Scott, you will forever be my Beloved Son and remain in my heart and my soul eternally! I am extremely grateful for your love, generosity and unique sense of humor! You could always make me smile and I will love you forever sweetheart!!!!!

Scott was an in-law in my family for decades. When I think of him I will always remember his love of my mom's peanut butter pie. And wearing his big orange Reeses t shirt. I will remember her horror at his goofy gift of chewing tobacco to her. I will remember the huge ants that moved into his newly wed apartment in Minneapolis. And then his first house there, where he said he could hear drive by shootings and got mugged in an alley. I will remember attending his children's baby dedications and him proudly showing the family how Jaiden knew how to play Zelda at age 3. Of the time I watched him write computer code and later show off his own video game. I will remember him singing Veggie Tales, "Does Aunt Ruth have a beard?" to me and telling me I had a peach fuzz face. How he towel whipped Tiffany and I at family reunions, and all the times he sat and laughed with Stephanee and I. Of his second house in Minneapolis where he showed Medin and I his vintage Atari; and the time I ate supper there and he touched the shrimp fon du and puffed up like a balloon. And the time me and my husband and first child sat in his living room there and he asked me if marriage was everything I had hoped it would be. But probably my earliest memories are of his dreadlocks, his turntable, and his rap band, Tha Mighty Alter (TMA)-- some of the first compact discs I ever owned as a teen. Go back and read the lyrics he wrote as a young man, because they are impactful and important. I wish I could have reminisced about all this while you were still here, Scott. Love, Ruth

I’m very sorry to learn of Scott’s passing too soon.  He was definitely a talented IT guy with a unique and interesting personality.  Every time I talked to him, he had a sly smile and a twinkle in his eye.  I will always remember the first time I met him.  I was in front of a very large group and my eye kept catching on this young man in back who I had never seen before.  I think it was because of the Star Trek uniform he had on - definitely made an impression, and it showed his confidence and sense of humor.  Scott was full of energy and creativity.  I’ve missed that and always will smile at his memory.
