Eileen entered into rest in the early hours of Ascension Thursday, May 17, 2012, in Green Bay, Wisconsin after a very brave fight to live.
Eileen was born in Elmhurst, Queens, NY, to James and Elizabeth Rowland. Eileen was one of nine children, all who predeceased Eileen: Lillian, James, Kay, Ray, Dot, Mary, Jack, and Gene. After graduation from Newtown High, Eileen was employee at the New York Office of the FBI. There she met Edward Carney, an FBI employee returning from World War II service in the U. S. Marine Corps. Eileen and Ed were married on October 4, 1947. Edward predeceased Eileen on April 6, 1993. Besides being a devoted wife, Eileen was a loving mother to her children: Edward (Arlene), Thomas, Francis (Barbara), Jeanne, Joanne, Nicholas, Michael (Lynn), Teresa; and predeceased by her ninth child, Joseph, who died shortly after birth.
Eileen was also very proud of the next generation of Carneys:
Grandchildren: Philip (Allison), Keith, Damien (Shree), Jillian, Ryan, Andrew, Shannon, Meaghan, and Bridget;
Great-Grandchildren: Miles and his baby sister, who will be born in July 2012.
Mother, we dearly miss you and love you. Eternal rest grant onto our Mother, Eileen, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Family and friends may visit Monday, May 21st from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Pius V Chapel in Oyster Bay Cove, NY. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
