

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Albert Tauriac, Jr., age 75, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Deacon Theo Landry will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the service time. A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 pm.
A native of Liberty, TX and resident of Carencro, Mr. Tauriac passed away at 1:45 am on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his residence.
Albert Tauriac, Jr. was born on November 17, 1941, to the late Albert Sr. and the late Rena Fontenot Tauriac in Liberty, TX. When he was only nine months old, the family moved to Patoutville, LA. After graduating high school he attended Southern University. He lived in Raywood, TX for three years helping his grandparents on the farm and working in their store. In the early 60’s he moved to Massachusetts and in 1963 he landed a job with the Gillette Co., was promoted to management, and invented a more efficient way to use deodorant. He retired after thirty one years of service due to health reasons.
Albert married his wife Claudette Mathieu in 1966. They have two children, Gina Winfield and Marlon Tauriac. In 1995 he decided to move back to Louisiana but in 2003, after missing his children and grandchildren, Albert moved back to Massachusetts. The cold was starting to get him and in 2013 he once again moved back to Louisiana. Albert enjoyed years of traveling, working on his gardens, and outings with family and friends.
Albert leaves behind his children, Gina Winfield of Norton, MA and Marlon Tauriac (Frances) of Tyngsboro, MA; grandchildren, Stefen Winfield, Evan Winfield, Nolan Winfield, Mark Tauriac, Nathaniel Tauriac and Othello Reynolds; siblings, Theodule Tauriac (Cynthia) of Baton Rouge, Charles Tauriac of Patoutville, and Patricia Helaire (Johnny) of Breaux Bridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, aunt, uncles, and friends.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rena Fontenot Tauriac Sr.; sister, Shirley Tauriac Broussard; sister- in-law, Rose Tauriac; and son-in-law, Larry Winfield.
Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
