

LYDIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Alton J. Rivet, Jr., age 78, at 11:00 am Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Gregory Chauvin officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery with military services by Iberia Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until service time.
A native of Weeks Island and resident of Lydia, Mr. Rivet passed away at 11:10 am on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Courtyard Manor in Lafayette.
Mr. Rivet was a veteran of the United States Navy who served his country honorably from 1958-1962. He was a member of the American Legion Post 356-Lydia and a volunteer for the VFW. He also volunteered at Dauterive Hospital for more than 10 years, enjoyed going to the casino, fishing and cooking.
He is survived by his children, Phil Rivet and wife Vickie of Lydia; Mike Rivet of Austin, TX; Scot Rivet of Lafayette; Seth Rivet of Houston and Beth Williamson and Jeremiah of Magnolia, TX; eleven grandchildren, Victoria Bourgeois and husband Chet; Hanns Rivet; Megan Marks; Heidi Rivet; Kaylie Doucet; Amber Rivet; Lakland Rivet; Jarett Romero,; Bryce Romero; Veda Williamson and Breana Williamson; four great grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie DeRouen Rivet; parents, Alton and Olean Derise Rivet, Sr.; one sister, Enola R. Boutte and two brothers, Allen Rivet, Sr. and Henry Rivet, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Phil Rivet, Mike Rivet, Scot Rivet, Seth Rivet, Anthony Guidry and Jeremiah Williamson.
