Born on October 27, 1946, in New Iberia, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Avnel and Mae Broussard Derise. She was a proud graduate of St. Joe High School and went on to build a long and respected career in the banking industry, serving as a Bank Manager for more than 35 years. Through her dedication, professionalism, and kindness, she earned the admiration of coworkers and customers alike.
Barbara found her greatest joy in the simple moments spent with those she loved most. She especially treasured time outdoors, whether fishing with her sons or enjoying peaceful weekends in Grand Isle. Her love for family, warm spirit, and gentle presence created lasting memories that will be carried in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her strength, devotion, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Dana Naquin (Angela); Damon LeBlanc (Charlotte); Chad LeBlanc and Daina Short (Keith); five grandchildren, Courtney Barrios, Ashley Pate, Sarah Furr, Chase LeBlanc and Cameron Short; numerous great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Clement LeBlanc and her niece, May Hebert, whom were both excellent caregivers.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by one sister, Emma D. Leleux; two brothers, Paulfrey Derise and Alexis “Bob” Derise and her husband, Wildon LeBlanc.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Evangeline Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Barbara will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
