Carla Glyn Bonvillain, a devoted sister, aunt, friend, and colleague, passed away on October 3, 2025, at the age of 68. Carla’s life was one of deep compassion, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication—to her family, her friends, and the patients and coworkers she cherished throughout her long nursing career.
Born on February 17, 1957, in Franklin, LA to the late Leslie Matthiew and Melba Ballard Bonvillain.
Carla graduated from Franklin High School in 1975. She followed her calling into the field of nursing, earning her degree from Charity School of Nursing in 1978. As a registered nurse, Carla served with heart and skill at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Lafayette General, and Iberia Medical Center. Her dedication and leadership later led her into management, where she spent 15 fulfilling years with STAT Home Health where she held various positions including VP of Corporate Compliance, VP of Program Development, VP of STAT Home Health and most recently, as Project Manager for the AIM Palliative Care program in the Compliance Department. These roles were not just a job—it was a passion. Carla found deep joy and purpose in her work, and the colleagues she met along the way became her second family.
Carla had a rich life outside of her career as well. She treasured time spent with loved ones at the camp on False River, where laughter, good food, and music filled the air. A true music lover, Carla appreciated sounds across all genres and was often found with a tune playing in the background. She had a green thumb and a special love for gardening, particularly vibrant flowers like hibiscus and hydrangeas that reflected her colorful spirit.
An avid sports fan, Carla cheered faithfully for the New Orleans Saints, LSU baseball, and the Houston Astros. Whether it was game day or a peaceful afternoon tending to her garden, she lived each moment with intention and heart.
Carla’s presence brought warmth and kindness to everyone around her. She was a loyal sister, a proud and loving aunt, and a friend who could be counted on for her wisdom, humor, and generous spirit. Her extreme love for her beloved fur baby, Ginger was evident to everyone. She leaves behind a legacy of care and connection that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her brothers, Marcus D. Bonvillain, Sr. (Gena); Kenneth D. Bonvillain (Jan) and Derek A. Bonvillain and numerous nieces and nephews.
