Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served his country with honor for 13 years, including during the Vietnam War. His service was one of his greatest sources of pride, and he carried the spirit of the Marines with him throughout his life. After his honorable discharge, Charles remained dedicated to supporting fellow veterans. He was an active member of the Marine Corps League of New Iberia and the Vietnam Veterans of Lafayette.
He especially loved participating in Toys for Tots with the Marine Corps League, bringing joy to children and continuing to serve his community long after his military career. Beyond his service, Charles deeply loved his family. His children, grandchildren, and partner were his world, and he took immense pride in every one of them.
He will be remembered for his unwavering patriotism, his sense of duty, and the deep love he shared with those closest to him.
Charles is survived by his son Christopher Norman (Donna); his daughters Michelle Grow and Claudia Norman; his mother Effie Talley; his sisters Karen Bourque (Bobby), Trudy Rousse, and Katherine Bourque; his partner Cheryl Reaux; his grandchildren Breigh Begnaud, Parker Perez, Brayton Grow, Charlee Mier, Taylor Norman, Gavin Reaux, and D.J. Reaux; and Daniel Reaux and Jude Reaux who he treated as if they were his own sons.
