

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Chester Charles Haycock, age 73, at 11:00 am Thursday September 13, 2012 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Fr. Charles Langlois will officiate. Interment will be follow at Holy Family Mausoleum with military honors by VFW Post #1982.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday from 8:00 am until services.
Chester was born November 20, 1938 in New Iberia to Leroy and Dorothy Markham Haycock, and passed away at 6:40 am Tuesday, September 18, 2012.
Mr. Haycock was a US Army veteran having served his country during the Vietnam War. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad where he was a diesel electrician. Chester was an outdoorsman who loved duck hunting, fishing, and bass fishing with top water bait. He also played baseball and coached for many years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Haycock and wife Wanette and Kevin Haycock and wife Sandra all of New Iberia; six grandchildren, Ashley, Trevor, Brett, Lance, Brittany, and Bryce Haycock; mother-in-law, Helen Savoy of New Iberia; sister, Dorothy Lee Roberts of New Iberia; and sister-in-law, Frances Boudreaux of Bridge City, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Bowman Haycock; and parents, Leroy F. and Dorothy Markham Haycock.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Haycock, Lance Haycock, Dr. Roger Boughton, Steve Viator, Butch Schouest, Trevor Haycock, Brett Haycock, and Oswald Buteaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Midnight Shift at Southern Pacific Railroad, Diesel Shop Round House.
