It is with great sorrow that the family of Dorothy “Dot” Romero Menard, announce her passing on Monday, January 19, 2026, at her residence. She was born on May 24, 1936, to the late Alcide and Claudia Tools Romero in Coteau, LA, and was 89 at her passing.
Dot was the very definition of devotion—a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose family was the center of her world. She was the beloved wife of her husband, Dudley, with whom she shared a beautiful life built on love, hard work, and faith. As a dedicated farmer’s wife, she worked tirelessly alongside her husband, supporting their family and livelihood with strength and grace.
After Dudley’s passing at a fairly young age, Dot showed remarkable resilience. She went on to dedicate many years of service working with the ARC of Acadiana, where her compassion and commitment touched countless lives.
Dorothy was also a remarkably talented and gifted seamstress. She found great joy in sewing, creating with her hands pieces that reflected the care and love she carried in her heart.
Above all else, Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, selflessness, and deep familial bonds that will continue through generations.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her only son and his wife, Dudley Menard and Nancy; four grandchildren, Dwayne Menard (Ronnie Aucoin); Blaine Menard; Lance Menard and Courtney Menard Hopkins (Jeremy Hopkins); five great grandchildren, Madyson Menard, Brenden Menard, Brianna Menard, Alayna Hopkins and Leland Hopkins and two great great grandchildren, Avery and Blake.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Menard; four sisters, Edias Romero, Amanda Romero, Edith Touchet and Emily Menard and five brothers, Avery Romero, Paul Romero, Eddie Romero, Lawrence Romero and Morris Romero.
A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Keith Duhon officiating. Mrs. Menard will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
