

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Earl Stephen Robicheaux, Sr., age 88, at 1:00 pm Saturday August 20, 2011at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Derise officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Family Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post #1982.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday. The funeral home will reopen at 9:00 am on Saturday until service time with a Rosary at 11:00 am.
A native of Franklin and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Robicheaux passed away at 1:10 am on Thursday August 18, 2011 at Iberia Medical Center.
Mr. Robicheaux was a WWII Veteran who served his country honorably in the US Navy. He was employed by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Department for 30 years and held the title of Chief Deputy for many of those years, where he became known for his willingness to help others.
He served on the Police Jury in Jeanerette and a member of the American Legion in Jeanerette.
Mr. Robicheaux was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, and coordinator of the Adoration Chapel and was also involved with the RCIA program.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Hebert Robicheaux of New Iberia; children, Linda R. Pontiff and husband Roy of New Iberia, Charles Robicheaux of New Iberia, Karen R. Ashton and husband Jackson of Baton Rouge, Earl S. Robicheaux, Jr. and wife Deborah of New Iberia, Timothy Paul Robicheaux of New Iberia, Beth R. Romero and husband Lucky of New Iberia, Mark Robicheaux and wife Michelle of New Iberia, Robyn R. Delcambre and husband Thomas of New Iberia, and Tracy R. LeBlanc and husband Nicholas of New Iberia; brothers, Harold Robicheaux and wife Everlee of Opelousas, Raymond Robicheaux and wife Betty Jo of Houma, and Allen Robicheaux and wife Nelwyn of Houma; sisters, Lee Ida R. Rodriguez of Houma and Rita Ann R. Tanner and husband Thomas of Husrt, Texas; 22 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Robicheaux; grandchildren, Kayla Robicheaux and Kaitlyn LeBlanc; parents, Sydney and Rita Landry Robicheaux; brothers, S. J. Robicheaux and Jerry Robicheaux; and sisters, Rosa Mae P. Pisani, Mary Claire Robicheaux, and Irene Detiveaux.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Robicheaux, Brandon Pontiff, Dar Romero, Earl “Trey” Robicheaux, III, Kyle Robicheaux and Brennon Robicheaux.
