Edison Paul Thibodeaux Jr., age 72, of Delcambre, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Edison was born in New Iberia, Louisiana to Bertil Hardy Thibodeaux and Edison Thibodeaux Sr.
Edison was a simple man who cherished the simple things in life. A hardworking and devoted individual, he dedicated much of his life to his country and his craft. Right out of high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country with honor and pride. He was stationed in Vietnam and later in Tokyo, serving a total of eight years before receiving his honorable discharge.
After his military service, Edison built a long and successful career as an electrician with Ardent Services, where he worked for 30 years before retiring. He found great joy in passing down his knowledge and skills to his grandsons, ensuring his legacy would live on through their hands and hard work. Above all else, Edison loved his family deeply and fiercely.
Edison is survived by his stepdaughters, Julie Segura (Rachael) and Joni Segura; his sister, Tania Bienvenu (Marc); his grandchildren, Jordan Michael Landry (Jinna), Jason Michael Landry (Johnna), Jax Michael Landry, Jake Michael Landry, and Justice Ryan Landry; his great-grandchildren, Jay Michael Landry, Jayden Michael Landry, Juliette Landry, Josie Landry, Jayce Landry, and Jayla Landry; his nieces and nephews, Brandy Segura, Jacque Gachassin (Rachael), and Jenna Schaubert (Jed).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita Thibodeaux; his father, Edison Thibodeaux Sr.; his mother, Bertil Hardy Thibodeaux; his brother, Gordon Thibodeaux; and his sister, Priscilla Thibodeaux.
A visitation for Edison will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia, with a rosary to be recited at 11:00 AM.
Edison will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum, 2409 Coteau Rd, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jordan Michael Landry, Jason Michael Landry, Jax Michael Landry, Jake Michael Landry, Marc Coppell, and Jacque Gachassin.
Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia will be in charge of arrangements.
Edison will be remembered for his strength, his service, and his steadfast love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
