

COTEAU – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ella Suire “Mae” Trahan, age 83, at 3:00 pm on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Fr. Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 11:00 am.
Mrs. Trahan was born January 7, 1932 in Delcambre to the late Alexie and Edna Bourque Suire, and passed away peacefully Saturday, May 23, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
“Mae” or “T-Mae” as she was affectionately known was a devoted homemaker, dedicated to the love and care of her family. She and her husband enjoyed watching their sons play softball and attended as many games as possible. Mae also loved dancing with her husband to Cajun and French music, camping, fishing, and cooking and sharing the great meals she prepared with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years Ralph E. Trahan; her children, Linda Trahan Firmin, Perry Trahan and wife Linda D. Trahan, and Blake Trahan and wife Joy M. Trahan all of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Candis F. Romero (Robert), Tammy Firmin, Katie T. Savoy (James), Laura T. Owens (Mark), Lilly Trahan, Ashley Trahan, Brandi Trahan & Fiancee Kenneth Bonin, Cristy Trahan, and Daphne Trahan; and her great grandchildren, Brittany Palmer, Brennan Trahan, Natalie Palmer, Korrigan Romero and Madilyn Romero; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Bridget Claire Trahan; and her siblings, Presley Suire, Rose Mae Suire Delcambre, Percy Suire, Velva Mae Barrilleaux, and Wilmer Suire.
Pallbearers will be Brennan Trahan, Candis Romero, Katie Savoy, Laura Owens, Lilly Trahan, Ashley Trahan, Brandi Trahan, Cristy Trahan, Daphne Trahan, Brittany Palmer and Natalie Palmer.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mae’s name to the Louisiana Special Olympics, 1000 E. Morris Ave., Hammond, LA 70403.
