NEW IBERIA- Funeral services will be held for Floyd Michael “Mike” Zagar on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home. Fr. Keith Landry, Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will be the celebrant for the service.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Evangeline Funeral Home from 9:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am.
He will be laid to rest at Holy Family Mausoleum with Military Honors performed by the Iberia Parish Veteran’s Honor Guard.
Mike, as he was affectionately known was born on May 11, 1950 in New Iberia to the late Floyd A. and Eula Belle Norris Zagar. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Iberia Medical Center at the age of 73.
Left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 46 years, Jenny Landry Zagar; two daughters, Allison Z. Estes and husband Wade and Brienne Z. Thibodeaux and husband Ronnie; one son, Zane Zagar and wife Britlyn; eight grandchildren, Sgt. Carson Romero and wife Emeri, Tallon Guiberteau, Tucker Zagar, Aubrey Zagar, Aurianna Estes, Carter Estes, Haiden Thibodeaux and Brian Thibodeaux; three sisters, Zonnie Labry and husband John, Frances Pourciau and Marian Bagley; two brothers, Joey Zagar and wife Robyn and Tim Zagar and his sister in law, Pam Zagar.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, John “Bubba” Zagar and his in laws, Norman and Mary Lynn Lasseigne Landry.
Mike served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.
He was employed in the oilfield industry for more than 45 years and retired as a Project Manager from Omega after 30 years of service.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed dearly. His family was his greatest blessing and he cherished the memories made with them. He enjoyed spending time outdoors at the barn, tending his chickens and rabbits and his John Deere tractor collection.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Zane Zagar, Tucker Zagar, Tallon Guiberteau, Sgt. Carson Romero, Wade Estes and Joey Zagar. Emeri Romero, Aurianna Estes, Carter Estes and Aubrey Zagar are honorary pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Judes’ Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
