NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Gary Lee Romero, age 53, at 2:00 pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Barry Crochet officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am on Friday until time of service.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Coteau, Gary passed away at7:00 pm on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Iberia Medical Center.

Gary enjoyed the outdoors, loved hunting and going to the rooster fights.

He is survived by his sister, Bonnie R. Woods and husband Michael and their daughters, Megan and Brittney Woods; longtime companion, Elizabeth Joseph and her children, Kimberli and Brent Joseph; eight grandchildren; cousin and caregiver, Lee Sisk; and caregivers, Richaline Castille, Matt Castille and Layla Sisk.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Adams Romero; Father, Serving Romero; Aunt, Lucy Sisk; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ovey Adams and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lastie Romero..

Pallbearers will be Danny Evans, Matthew Castille, Lee Sisk, William Reaux, Sam August and Kenneth Adams.
