Gilbert "Pat" Dartez

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Gilbert “Pat” Dartez, age 78, at 2:00 pm Monday, May 21, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Manny Fernandez officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Family Mausoleum with military honors by VFW Post #1982.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Dartez passed away at 11:20 am on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Iberia Medical Center.

Mr. Dartez was a veteran of the US Army who served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was employed and retired from Texaco after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a life member of the VFW Post #1982 and a life member of the American Legion Post #335, in which he was devoted to the increase of the membership. He also enjoyed wood working and spending time with this family.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores “Tutt” Bourque Dartez; son, Patrick Dartez; daughter, Joellyn Riggle and husband Randall; three grandsons, Shane Bodin, Jonathan and Christopher Dartez; one brother Herbert Dartez and wife Betty and sister, Janice Delcambre and husband Richard all of New Iberia and sister, Kate Rogers and husband Raleigh of Avery Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lelies “Chet” and Enola Savoy Dartez, daughter, Lisa Ann Dartez and sisters, Mary Alice Perry, infant Barbara and infant twins.

Pallbearers will be Shane Bodin, Jonathan Dartez, Christopher Dartez, Jade Rogers, Lynn Rogers and Timothy Oubre.

Honorary pallbearers will be Merlin Bodin, Nolan Theriot and Richard Tauzin.
