Gilbert Dugas

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Gilbert Dugas, age 82, at 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Edward Duhon officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until service time on Wednesday.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Dugas passed away at 6:02 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Dugas was a lifelong resident of Spanish Lake and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was in the National Guard from 1954 through 1960 and worked for Pelican Aviation for over 60 years. He was a loving father and husband who dearly loved all of his family. As a member of the CFMA Association, he loved to dance and always kept a garden. Mr. Dugas will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Ann Lancon Dugas; sons, Larry Dugas and wife Betty of Lafayette, Gilman Dugas and wife Karen of New Iberia; daughters, Sharon Theriot and husband Richard of New Iberia, Kathryn LeJeune and husband Virgil of Vinton, LA; sisters, Anna Norris of New Iberia, Regina Chaffin of New Iberia; grandchildren, Brenden Dugas, Jordan Dugas, Scott Dugas, Shaun Dugas, Jennifer Dugas, Cristi Theriot, Ross Theriot, Keith LeJeune, Natilia LeJeune; four great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews including nephew, Patrick Norris, nieces Mary Young, Trudy Romero and Phyllis Buteau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Avery Dugas and Eronie Lopez Dugas; brother, Alden Dugas; sister, Rena Babineaux and Goddaughter Joyce Romero.
