Gilbert Joseph Peltier, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and lifelong resident of Louisiana, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on December 4, 1927, in St. Martinville, LA, Gilbert was the beloved son of the late Antoine and Nola Delcambre Peltier.
Gilbert answered the call to serve his country with honor, training at Fort Bliss, Texas, and later being stationed in Japan as a Paratrooper. His military service was a source of great pride, reflecting the courage and commitment he carried throughout his life.
After returning home, Gilbert dedicated over 50 years of hard work to Cleco, where he served as a lineman. His strong work ethic and loyalty earned the respect of his colleagues and community alike.
Outside of his career, Gilbert was a man of deep family values and simple joys. He cherished time spent with his loved ones and found peace in the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and camping whenever he could. His stories, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gilbert leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, and love—a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his two sons, Phillip John Peltier and wife Penny and Blaine Bernard Peltier and wife Teresa; five grandchildren, Gidget Duplantis, Ashley Segura (Beau), Kayla Richard (Lyndsey); Victoria Louviere (Travis) and Peyton Peltier; four great grandchildren, Selina Broussard, Paxtin Johnson, Beckham Boudreaux and Landon Segura and two great-great grandchildren, Julian Broussard and Hudson Broussard.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Elodie “Tut” Bonin Peltier; his daughter, Violet Duplantis; one grandchild, Beau Peltier and a son in law, Russell Duplantis.
