NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Goldie Maturin Romero, age 62, at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Korey LaVergne officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm with a rosary being led by the Men’s Rosary Group at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 am until the service time.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Goldie passed away on April 20, 2019 at Iberia Medical Center.
Goldie was a kind and caring woman who loved her family deeply. She enjoyed every moment spent with her loving husband, children, and grandchildren. Goldie also enjoyed video poker, going to the casino, and cutting grass. She was a big fan of Elvis Presley and his music. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Goldie will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Jessie Romero; son, Jared Romero; daughters, Tiffany Romero and significant other, Patty Touchet and Carla Romero and significant other Marcus Castille; brothers, Ellis Maturin, Jr. and wife Linda, Allen Maturin and wife Angela, Rickey Maturin and wife Tiasea, and Elliot Maturin and wife Diane; sisters, Glenda Maturin and Teron Provost and Bleinda Maturin and Wesley Lanceslin; grandchildren, Eden Barrett-Powell and Kayden Castille; numerous nieces and nephews; godchildren, Allison Patout, Joey Maturin, Nelson Badeaux, Jr., and Bryant Maturin; and rat-terrier/Chihuahua mix, Lily.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Maturin, Sr. and Gladys Pontiff Maturin; godchild, Shafika Maturin; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Jared Romero, Patty Touchet, Rickey Maturin, Elliot Maturin, Ellis Maturin, Jr. Joey Maturin, and Allen “Ben” Maturin.
