NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Grace Romero O’Brien, age 83, on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. Msgr. J. Robert Romero will be the celebrant for the service. Following the mass, she will be laid to rest at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am.
A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Grace passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Camelot of Broussard.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert W. O’Brien of New Iberia and Karen Theriot and husband Gregory of Broussard; seven grandchildren, Casey Hammons and husband Jimmy; Kiley Landry and husband Kevin; Brandon O’Brien and wife Ashley; Aja Anthony and husband Clint; Kristi Segura and husband Rolling; David Vaughn and wife Missie; Chris Theriot and wife Bridget; twelve great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one brother, Jimmie Romero and wife Beatrice of New Iberia.
She is preceded in death by her father, Otis Romero; her mother and step father, Cecile Gachassin Vincent and Sandy Vincent; one son Patrick O’Brien; an infant brother, Patrick Romero and the father of her children, Irving O’Brien, Sr.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Robert O’Brien, Chris Theriot, David Vaughn, Bryson Hammons, Luke Hammons and Kipp Landry. Gregory Theriot, Brandon O’Brien, Kevin Landry, Clint Anthony and Jimmy Hammons are honorary pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
