Herbert Jean Moore

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Herbert Jean Moore, age 85, at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Garrett Savoie officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Family Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post #1982.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am on Thursday until service time with a Rosary at 11:00 am.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Moore passed away at 2:30 pm on Monday, October 27, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Moore was a veteran of the US Army/Air Force and served his country honorably. Mr. Herbert probably delivered milk to your house, delivered you to school on his school bus or sold you insurance. He was an award winning insurance salesman for Union National Insurance Co. for many years and earned many trips that he enjoyed taking with his wife. He worked for the Iberia Parish School Board as a bus driver for many years and was very well known in the community for his outgoing personality and his love for people.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann Buford Moore of New Iberia; his five children, Donna M. Thompson and husband J.L. of Leesville; Rochelle M. Romero and husband Larry of New Iberia; David J. Moore and partner Danny Davis of Youngsville; Joel “Joey” A. Moore and wife Linda of New Iberia and Trisha M. Dunaway and husband Bill of Lafayette, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Derouen Moore, Jr.

Pallbearers will be

Pallbearers will be Kelly Trahan, Jon Moore, Joshua Moore, Scott Romero, Ryan Chapman and J. L. Thompson.

David J. Moore, Joel “Joey” A. Moore, Bill Dunaway and Larry Romero will serve as honorary pallbearers.
