Homer was born September 22, 1924 in New Iberia to the late Andrew Alleman and Eunice Louviere. He passed away peacefully at 11:34 pm on Friday, September 5, 2014 at his residence, with his family at his side.
Mr. Homer was a hardworking man who provided for his family throughout his life. From early on he was a trapper in the marsh, and worked as a truck famer where he would purchase vegetables from the farmers and deliver to the food companies in the area. Most remember Mr. Alleman from the 50+ years that he and his wife operated Alleman’s Grocery. And while running the store, he worked as a chemical salesman with Red Barn, Bell Chemical, and 3D Chemical, and drove buses for the Iberia Parish School Board for 17 years. Outside of his busy work life, he enjoyed being a landlord and taking care of his many rental properties, going dancing with his wife at Smileys, and visiting with his many customers and friends at the store. But his greatest love was his family. He cherished the time that he spent with them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Ron Alleman, Diana Babin and husband Lewis, Herman Alleman and wife Catherine, Jimmy Alleman, and Julia Maturin (a niece whom he and his wife raised as their own child); grandchildren, Rhonda Champagne and husband Blaine, Shannon Alleman, Pauline Jordan and husband David, Michelle Quibodeaux and husband Brice, Carolynn Ridge and husband Eddie, Suzanna Mire and husband JonPaul, Melissa Louviere and husband Mike, Charlotte Hebert and husband George, Renee Randall and husband Eric, Laura Faucheaux and husband Derrick, and Brent Spangler; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
