A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Irvin Joseph Guillotte, Sr. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Fr. Keith Landry, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette. Military Honors will be conducted.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Evangeline Funeral Home on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The Men’s Rosary Group will pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until 9:30 am.
Irvin was born in New Iberia, LA to the late Sidney and Vivian Landry Guillotte. He passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 1:34 pm at Iberia Medical Center. He was 86 years old at his passing.
Irvin was a member of the LA National Guard. He worked at J&L Honiron Manufacturing as a Supervisor for more than 20 years and then became an 18 wheeler driver for Howard Truck Lines for 20 years.
His outgoing personality was the perfect fit for the many years that he served as a volunteer at Iberia Medical Center, where he never met a stranger.
He will be remembered by his family as an enthusiastic sports fan. Irvin enjoyed bowling and secured the LA State Title in 1969, and volunteered his time for many years teaching and coaching Little League Baseball and Pony League baseball.
Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Irvin Guillotte, Jr.; Pauline G. Myers and husband Lonnie, Sr.; Cindy Guillotte and husband Tommy; Jerome Guillotte and wife Joannie; Kevin Guillotte and Deena G. Stevens; twenty grandchildren, forty five great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; one brother, Eldridge Guillotte and his sister in law, Irene Guillotte.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Derise Guillotte; grandson, Jerome “JJ” Guillotte, Jr.; great grandson, Spencer Guillotte; brother, Danielle Guillotte; his in laws, Amos and Pauline Sonnier Derise and his sons in law, Dwayne Myers and Micahel Stevens.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Irvin Guillotte, III, Lonnie Myers, Jr., Eric Myers, Shawn Landry, Devin Guillotte, Sidney Guillotte, Christopher Guillotte and Courtney Pellerin. Irvin Guillotte, Jr., Jerome Guillotte, Kevin Guillotte, Shea Guillotte, Tommy Guillotte and Lonnie Myers, Sr. are honorary pallbearers.
