RYNELLA - James “Jimmy” Lee Thibodeaux Jr., age 70, of New Iberia, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, surrounded by his wife, sons, and loving family. Jimmy was born in New Iberia to Ruby Chauvin Thibodeaux and James Thibodeaux, Sr.
Jimmy was a simple man with simple wants, guided by faith, family, and hard work. A devout Catholic, he was a proud parishioner of St. Marcellus Catholic Church, where he also served as a Eucharistic minister and Confirmation teacher. He found great joy and peace in gardening and was known for his flourishing vegetable garden. He loved raising chickens and birds and had a knack for being prepared—stockpiling food and goods to protect his family in case of hard times.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jimmy’s greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren who brought light into his days. He was also a skilled craftsman and carpenter, holding himself to the highest standards of quality. Through his own business, he built more than structures—he built a legacy of dedication and pride in a job well done. Jimmy will be remembered for his warm heart, quiet strength, and the unwavering love he gave to those around him.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Bonnie Gail Migues Thibodeaux; his sons Jason Thibodeaux (Tiffany), Joshua Thibodeaux (Sasha), Joel Thibodeaux (Amber), and Jordan “Lukey” Thibodeaux (Mary); his brothers Bret Thibodeaux and Troy Thibodeaux; and his sister Bernadine “Bunny” Rogers. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Carson, Jase, Kayleigh, Stella, Caleb, Elyse, Arya, Everly, Charlie, and Finn Thibodeaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thibodeaux Sr. and Ruby Chauvin Thibodeaux; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Loudella Migues and Freddie Migues; his brother-in-law Lloyd and wife Beverly Migues; his brother-in-law Billy Rogers.
A visitation for Jimmy will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed by his grandchildren at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Marcellus Catholic Church, with Fr. James Nguyen officiating.
