Jason Paul Gaspard

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jason Paul Gaspard, age 26, at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Msgr. Richard Greene will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm.

Jason was born January 7, 1988 in Lafayette to Herman J. Gaspard, Jr. and Sarah Touchet Gaspard, and was one of four children. On Friday, March 28, 2014, Jason passed away surrounded by his loving family. In his death, others will continue to live as Jason’s wish was to donate his organs.

Jason was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed listening to music, and had a love for the outdoors. Whether fishing or just taking a long drive in his truck he was happy. His family meant most to him and he always enjoyed the good times they shared. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his parents, Sarah and Herman Gaspard, Jr.; his sisters, Monica Gaspard and boyfriend Joshua Blanchet of Youngsville, Veronica and husband Christopher Leleux of New Iberia, and April and husband John Dupre of Nunez; his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Lani Garcia, Hunter Gaspard, Katelyn Dupre (his God-child), Christopher Leleux, Jr. (expected in July); and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mable Desormeaux Toucheque, and Herman and Lucille Segura Gaspard, Sr.

Serving as pallbearers will be Herman Gaspard, Jr., John Dupre, Thomas Milazzo, Jr., Blaine Touchet, Tyrone Benoit, and Joseph Eskind. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward and Mauldin Eskind.

Donations may be made to the family to assist with medical and funeral expenses.
