Pat was a simple man who found his greatest joy in the simple things in life. He loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. An avid gardener, Pat took great pride in tending to his vegetable garden and watching it flourish. When harvest time came, he could often be found making the rounds to his children’s homes, sharing cabbage, tomatoes, and whatever else he had grown. Giving from his garden was his way of giving from the heart, and he took great joy in sharing his abundance with those he loved.
Above all else, Pat loved his family deeply. His children and grandchildren were the center of his world, and his quiet presence, generosity, and steady love will be missed more than words can express.
Pat is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce Buteau Verret; his children, Jerry Verret (Rhonda), Glenn Verret (Karen), Judy Breaux (Leonard), Roy Verret, Patrick Verret (Tiffany), and Peggy Aucoin (Andy); and his siblings, Ray Verret (Betty) and Hilda Buteau (Joe). He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Brennan, Chase, Madison, Mitchell, Brock, Garret, Ashton, Hannah, Reese, Ali, and Abbie, along with numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawless Verret and Rena Melancon Verret; his son, Walter Verret; his siblings, Helen Buteau, Chester Verret, Richard Verret, and Davis Verret; and his grandchild, Kyle Breaux.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
