It is with great sorrow and deep love that the Gary family announce the passing of Jessica Gary Dubois, our beloved mother, daughter, sister, and dear friend, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Carpenter House in Lafayette. She was 58. Jessica was born November 18, 1966, in New Iberia to Joanna Tabor Gary and the late Eddie Gary, and was one of four daughters.
Jessica was loved and known for her kind heart and glowing smile. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with warmth and kindness. Many will remember Jessica from her 27 years at Rudy’s Reliable Cleaners, where she worked alongside her sisters, Joannie and Janet. There were few mornings when you walked in with your laundry that Jessica didn’t greet you by name with a cheerful “good morning” or “hello.” Before long, her laughter—and that of her sisters—would fill the store, turning a simple errand into a friendly visit. When Rudy’s closed its doors, Jessica began a new chapter working for the Iberia Parish School Board as a cook at Center Street Elementary, where she enjoyed feeding the little ones and forming new friendships with her coworkers.
Outside of her work, Jessica found her greatest joy in being a mother to her two sons, Robert and Justin. She poured every ounce of her heart into raising them, offering unconditional love, encouragement, and support in every aspect of their lives. Being a mother was her proudest role.
Family was central to Jessica’s life. She loved spending time with those closest to her—bowling nights, trips to her dad’s camp in the basin where they enjoyed hunting and fishing, and camping adventures at Lake Fausse Point, Palmetto State Park, and other favorite campgrounds. Wherever she went, family and friends were always by her side. She also enjoyed quiet moments doing Diamond Art and tending to her flowers.
A proud and glorious moment in Jessica’s life was her baptism on June 29, 2025. She gave her life to her Lord and Savior and found great joy in her church family at The Community Church, where she made many new friends and was proud to say, “That’s my church.” Even as her illness progressed, Jessica’s caring spirit never wavered. She continued to check on others, often sending a sweet text or phone call just to let you know she was thinking of you. That was simply her way.
Although she is no longer with us, we find comfort in our faith that one day we will be reunited with her in the Kingdom of Heaven, where there will be no more sorrow or pain. Rest well Jessica for you have earned your heavenly reward. We will look for your smile in the sunrise and sunset of each glorious day and will hold your memory in our hearts forever. We love you.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Robert Wayne Woolwine (Cheyene) and Justin Michael Woolwine; her loving mother, Joanna Tabor Gary; her sisters, Joannie Gary Guillotte (Jerome), Julie Gary Rowan (David), and Janet Gary Guidry (Gilbert); her closest and best friend, Michelle Dutile; her godchildren, Amber Hebert and Kody Thibodeaux; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is now reunited in heaven with her father, Eddie Gary, and all of the family members who went before her.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a celebration of life memorial service at 6:30 pm. Pastor Jacob LeBlanc of The Community Church will officiate. In keeping with Jessica’s wishes, she will be laid to rest during a private ceremony at a later date.
