Jo Anne was born in Erath, Louisiana of proud Cajun descendants, Marie Bella Bodin Hebert, Neuville Hebert and Daniel LeBlanc. She later grew up in New Iberia and Orange, TX. She attended New Iberia Senior High. She worked as a ticket attendant for the Essanee and Colonial Theatres until she joined the Air Force in 1965. While stationed in Washington DC, she met and married John Lickliter, an officer also serving in the Air Force. During their military careers, they lived in Brussels, Belgium and Brindisi, Italy. After their tour overseas, they moved to Manassas, Virginia. There, she became a cosmetologist and worked as a hairstylist for 15 years. She and her husband retired in New Braunfels, Texas, where they dedicated their spare time as avid bowlers. During her retirement, she also became a competitive black powder rifle shooter and placed first during several competitions in this category. Her husband’s untimely passing led her back to New Iberia, her childhood home. She continued her active social life, which included her love of dancing, Bouree card playing and fishing. She enjoyed her family and friends immensely, leaving them with many fond memories.
She was very active politically in local politics. She was an active member of C.E.R.T.S., Iberia Humane Society, Vietnam War Veterans and the Cajun French Music Association. If you wish to honor her through a donation, please give to the New Iberia Humane Society. We also want to thank those special doctors, hospice and caretakers, Brenda Robicheaux and Barbara Belaire for all the tender loving care that was given in the last weeks of her life.
