Kenneth Paul Rodrigue, age 77, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Born on July 2, 1947, in New Iberia to the late Raymond and Mildred Courrege Rodrigue, Kenneth lived a life full of service, dedication, and kindness.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. His military service was a source of great pride, and he carried the values of duty and commitment with him throughout his life.
Kenneth spent over 30 years as a window clerk for the United States Postal Service in Jeanerette, where he was known for his reliability, hard work, and warm interactions with the community. He retired from the Postal Service, but his spirit of service did not wane.
Outside of his professional life, Kenneth had a passion for bowling, listening to music, and engaging in trivia. He was a sports enthusiast and loved spending time watching games, always ready with a friendly wager or a shared laugh. But perhaps his most beloved role was as Santa Claus for Brookdale and Miles Perret Cancer Services, a position he took on with great joy. For many years, Kenneth brought smiles and holiday cheer to children and families facing serious illness, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Kenneth will be remembered as a loving brother, a devoted friend, and a dedicated volunteer who left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He touched many lives with his generosity, humor, and compassion, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Maria R. Martinez, and husband Donald, and two sisters, Annette Corkern and husband Keith and Bonnie Holeman.
Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Carline Rodrigue, and two sisters, Catherine Rodrigue and Dolly Marcel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Marcellus Catholic Church in Rynella on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 am. Fr. James Nguyen will officiate at the services.
Kenneth will be laid to rest alongside his wife at St. Marcellus Mausoleum. Military Honors will be conducted by the Iberia Veterans Honor Guard and the US Navy Honor Guard.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Evangeline Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Friday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am Saturday until 10:30 am.
