It is said that every shining star will one day dim unto itself and fade into the heavens above. And on Thursday, November 21, our precious Kensie Mae Pellerin's bright smile dimmed ever so gently as she was taken into the arms of her Lord and Savior and reunited with her loving mother, Stacy. Kensie Mae, our precious Peanut as she was lovingly called, was the baby of three beautiful girls born to Brock and Stacy Pellerin. Another blessing from the heavens above and new baby sister to Saige and Addyson.
Born July 5, 2011, Kensie was destined to be that sweet little girl who lived life with a free spirit and in her own world. Not a care in the world about whether her socks matched or that her hair was fixed neatly, only that she was living life on her terms, making herself—and everyone around her—smile. Stacy often called Kensie her little "Punky Brewster" because of her carefree nature.
Peanut quickly developed a passion for showing livestock, following in her family's footsteps. At just two years old, she showed her first pig, and Brock and the girls fondly remember watching this tiny girl, with a pig much larger than her, walking with intense focus and determination. Her arm raised high, she expertly guided the pig with a show whip, her eyes locked on the judges—a perfect blend of determination and grace. This marked the beginning of her love for livestock and the show circuit.
Peanut was one of kind in that she loved working with her pigs and helping others out. Sure, the thought of winning shows and garnering another buckle or travel bag was nice, but to Peanut, it was a way to share time with her family, and to help others that shared her interests. Brock laughed when sharing that it was nothing to have Kensie by their side one minute, and the next she was gone helping others in the barn, sharing her tips and knowledge. She was everybody's friend, and they loved her. But when it was her time to shine, she gave her absolute best and did so with a purpose. If she didn't place in the show, she knew exactly what she needed to do to improve for the next competition. Yes, she may have gotten mad at herself for that, but she never gave up. And it paid off in wonderful ways.
Kensie, this independent little lady who had her mother's giddy laugh and her daddy's attitude, attained success not seen by many who were on the circuit. At the age of just seven years old, Peanut was awarded Reserve Champion Overall Showman of the Louisiana Junior Show Circuit. An astounding accomplishment by anyone at her age. And that was just one of the highlights of her time showing pigs. In 2021, Peanut showed at her very first Sugarcane Festival and was named Grand Champion Overall Showman. Her success continued In 2023, when Peanut was awarded Reserve Champion Market Hog, again at the Sugarcane Festival. That moment was the most special of them all as it was Stacy's last festival with Kensie before her passing.
The following year, and just four short months ago, July 4, 2024, Stacy was called home to her Lord and Savior. In our hearts, we know that as the scripture reads in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future", that just as Stacy's plans here on earth were fulfilled, Kensie too was called home to fulfill her plans now in Heaven. Our hearts are broken, but we rejoice in knowing that Peanut has earned her heavenly reward, and that a mother and her baby are now reunited eternally. Kensie, my beautiful baby girl and sister...please give Stacy a kiss and hug from us all. We will miss you dearly and await the day that we will all be together again. Until that very precious day, rest well. We love you.
Kensie's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family that she loved so dearly, her father, Brock J. Pellerin; her sisters and best friends who spoiled her with love, Saige Marie Pellerin and Addyson Alexis Pellerin; her grandparents, Duwana Pellerin and Willis and Sherald Theriot; and the many aunts and uncles and friends who loved her.
Kensie is reunited with her mother, Stacy Pellerin, who welcomed her into the Kingdom of Heaven and lovingly wrapped her arms around her sweet baby girl.
To honor Kensie and celebrate her beautiful life, services will be held at the church that the Pellerin's attended faithfully. A church that was not only a place of worship but an extension of family to them, Our Saviors Church. Visiting hours will be held at Our Saviors Church on Saturday, November 30 from 10:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm with Pastor Don Norman officiating. Kensie will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
The family kindly asks that family and friends share their condolences and memories of Peanut by visiting her memorial at www.evangelinenewiberia.com
