Larry was born on September 2, 1937, in Loreauville to the late Naulis Broussard and the late Emarite Cormier Broussard.
He enjoyed a rewarding career in the oil and gas industry, working with several companies throughout Louisiana and Texas, including Patterson Rental Tools. Outside of work, Larry embraced a simple yet deeply fulfilling life. He found joy in the rhythms of nature, cultivating a garden that spanned over five acres — carefully planted and tended to match the changing seasons.
Larry’s independence was legendary among those who knew him. Whether pedaling his bike or riding his trusted Kubota tractor into town, he never let age or circumstance slow him down. He was a familiar sight on the roads of New Iberia, making grocery runs or just enjoying the ride — always on his own terms.
Though we mourn his passing, we take comfort in the memories he leaves behind. We like to imagine him now, riding his tractor along the streets of gold, as independent and full of life as ever.
Larry is survived by his son, Chad Broussard; his grandchildren, Alexis Broussard, Brennan Broussard, and Lauren Louviere; his son-in-law, James Latiolais; his brothers, Allen Broussard and Ernest Broussard; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Mona Latiolais, and his parents.
In accordance with Larry’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions in Larry’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
