

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Louis “Dean” Joseph Arton, Sr., age 73, at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church with Fr. Kendal Faulk officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Jeanerette.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until: 9:00 pm on Friday with a Rosary being recited by the Men’s Rosary Group at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until service time.
A native of Jeanerette and resident of Lydia, Mr. Arton passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Arton was born on March 25, 1943 to the late Dennis and Georgette Gary Arton. He was a 1961 graduate of Jeanerette High School and a 1964 graduate of Tech Area Vocational Tech.
Louis, better known by his family and friends as Dean, enjoyed flying his ultralight plane. He loved spending time with his family and friends. This included going to football games with his son, watching his two grandsons play in the high school band, and listening to his daughter sing.
Dean will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Barbara Trautman Arton; one son, Lynn Paul Arton and wife Jacelyn; one daughter, Amy Arton; one daughter-in-law, Jodie Arton; and five grandchildren, Ashton Arton, Cameron Arton, Kevin Arton, Kody, Arton, and Jeanette Arton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Georgette Arton; son, Louis “Deany” Arton, Jr.; and in-laws, Alfred Sr. and Dorothy Trautman.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Arton, Paul Arton, Carroll Boutte, III, Alfred Trautman, Jr., Glynn Trautman, Kevin Arton, and Kody Arton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Chaney, John Vernon, Bradford Hebert, Bobby Mendozoa, Ronald Bailey, James “Bub” Brown, Richard Cage, Clarence Callahan, Gerald Hebert, Lee McGee, and Bob Smith.
