It is with great sorrow and deep love that the family of Margie Duplantis Frederick announces her passing on December 12, 2025. Margie passed away peacefully at Carpenter House in Lafayette with her loving family by her side. She was 81 years old.
Margie was born on August 17, 1944, in Iberia Parish to the late Alton and Rose Duplantis and was one of five children born to their union.
She was retired from the Iberia Parish School Board, having devoted more than 14 years of service as a cafeteria cook at Bank Street Elementary. Margie took great pride in her work and found true joy in making sure every child was well fed. It was a job she genuinely loved and one she carried out with care and dedication.
Above all else, Margie cherished time spent with her family. She enjoyed traveling to Texas to reconnect and reminisce, cooking meals that gathered loved ones around her table, and sharing conversation and laughter that filled her home with warmth. She also made time for one of her favorite pastimes—heading to Smiley’s for a night of great music and dancing. Now, she dances joyfully on the streets of gold in Heaven above.
Although Margie will be dearly missed, her family will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Until we meet again, may you rest well. You are loved beyond measure.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Margie Hebert, Nana Trahan (James), and Kearney Segura (Alicia); ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Virgie Selanga and Nolan Duplantis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her parents, Margie was preceded in death by husband, Leewood Frederick; her children, Nancy Segura and Kenneth Segura; her son-in-law, Kim Hebert; and her siblings, Audrey Staudt and James Duplantis.
