Mary Derouen Peltier

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Mary Derouen Peltier, age 70, at 10:00 am Monday, December 10, 2012 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday and remain open until service time. A reception will be held on Monday evening from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Squirrel Run Apartment Club House at 2118 West Old Spanish Trail. Everyone is invited.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Peltier passed away at 10:30 pm on Monday, December 4, 2012 at Dauterive Hospital.

Mrs. Peltier spent her whole life building relationships with family and friends. Her life was a shining example of how the only things in life that matter are faith and love. She prayed for anyone and everyone in need and was a member of the Jesus is Alive Prayer Group. Mary’s greatest lesson to her family was to love unconditionally.

She is survived by her husband Fred Peltier, Sr. of New Iberia; sons, Steven Chaisson and Karen Carroll of Shreveport, Michael Chaisson and wife Carrol of Richmond, California, John Chaisson, Esq of Atlanta, Georgia, Matthew Chaisson and wife Beth of Burkley, California; step-sons, Fred Peltier, Jr. of Baton Rouge, Titus Peltier of New Iberia; daughters, Dr. Selena Chaisson of Sausalito, California, Theresa Chaisson of New Iberia, Crystal Peltier of New Iberia; step-daughter, Angela Peltier of Lake Charles; brothers, Peter Derouen of New Iberia, Calvin Derouen of New Iberia, Thomas Derouen of California, Earl Derouen of California; first husband, Morris Chaisson, fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitney and Leona Derouen; brothers, Orey Derouen, Norman Derouen and Leward Derouen

Pallbearers will be John Chaisson, Michael Chaisson, Matthew Chaisson, Peter Derouen, Daniel Derouen, Titus Peltier, Darryl Derouen and Dr. Gerard Sigue.
