Mathilda Vincent Borel, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all, peacefully closed her eyes to this earthly life and entered into her eternal glory Friday, June 24, 2022. At her passing she was 87.
Mathilda was born March 16, 1935 in New Iberia to the late Adolph Vincent and the late Herminia Tauzin Vincent and was raised in a family steeped in faith and love for all. Her children spoke of their mother’s deep faith and servant’s heart, having lived her life for her Lord and Savior, and to love and respect all. She lived a simple life void of materialistic things, yet filled with prayer, kindness and love. They boasted about her homemade brownies and shared a smile at her unique sense of humor. “We will miss her dearly,” they said, “but know in our hearts that she is not gone, only gone on before us. Rest well for we will be reunited one day. We love you.”
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, William “Billy” Racheau and wife Mary Ann, Christine Gail Racheau, and Tammy Racheau Landry and husband William; four grandchildren, Michael Racheau, Matthew Racheau, Meegan Truth Gasser and Channing Faith Nellis; and her brother and sister, William Ray Johnson and Eva Romero.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Borel; her son, Johnny Michael Racheau; her grandson, Brandon Racheau; and some of her siblings.
